We held our last AGM and Conference on the 13th October 2010 and this year's theme was Employment and Training. Over 65 people attended the event and enjoyed presentations from Coast and the Shopping Project. We then broke into groups where we discussed what training we thought was important for working and what sort of work we wanted. We also discussed whether we wanted to work as a volunteer or as a paid worker.

We also held our elections for the officers of Pembrokeshire People First and the above people were either elected or re-elected.

The evaluations of the day were really positive and many people said that the presentations were very interesting. Also we would like to thank Portfield for the wonderful lunch!

We are still working towards Pembrokeshire People First becoming an independent organisation and Sophie and Pam are working on funding bids to enable this to happen.

Pembrokeshire People First has been part of the Manifesto Campaign of All Wales People First. This states we have the right to:

  • Control our own lives
  • To speak up for ourselves
  • To respect
  • To personal growth
  • To the same activities, friendships and relationships
  • To choose how and where we live
  • To have good quality health care
  • To have good quality support
