Young Moving On

This is for young people in Pembrokeshire 11-18 with either a diagnosis of or who identify as having a Learning Disability and / who are autistic.

It is a safe space for young people to relax, be comfortable and feel a sense of belonging. The facilitators are experienced and offer a well held, emotionally intelligent space. It is an inclusive environment where confidence and resilience can be built. Members can learn to put themselves first. Often, the key part of the night is having a positive relationship and interaction with an adult.

Typically, when restrictions permit our group meets once weekly for 2 hours at our office in Merlin’s Bridge, Haverfordwest.

In the meantime, our sessions are running online, Thursday’s 5 pm – 6 pm.

We meet on ZOOM. There is a WhatApp group for parents and guardians where the unique weekly meeting ID’s and passcodes are posted. We have a female member of staff, Emma who co-facilitates each session. We run games, quizzes, challenges, dance off’s, karaoke – we focus on empowering our YP. They direct the content for the group sessions. We always start our sessions with an emotional ‘check-in’ in the form of a ‘circle’ and this is very important to our young people.
